Alright, I have been really neglecting this blog...but not anymore. Originally, this blog was going to be a way to connect with friends and family back home but I really feel it's a great way to document our overseas adventure and a motivation to keep a "virtual" diary of how we are getting on here in London. I would like to think that one day I will actually make a beautiful coffee table book with all the photos and stories that will become my children's most prized possession, but the truth is I just I can never find the time to organize our family photos, so hopefully this will get us on the right track.
There is so much to catch up on! We've been here just shy of two months and we have, so far, managed to...
have all our worldly possessions delivered across the Atlantic fairly seamlessly
pick up a tv, dvd player, stereo, kitchen appliances, a chest of drawers, a nightstand and a few odds and ends from Ikea all without our own car (ok, so never having lived before without at least one car, this really seems like a big deal).
find a house keeper, hire a piano tutor, enroll Evan is a soccer (football) club, connect all household services (I know this doesn't sound like a monumental task, but it really is!)
get away to the English countryside for a few days
welcome our first visitors
sort out our banking details (well, not 100%, but we are getting close...)
make our travel plans for Christmas (we are planning to split our time b/t Michigan and Chicago)!!
Here are a few photos of just how our furniture and other odds and ends actually traveled from our house in CT to London. Everything was wrapped in packing paper, bubble wrapped and then wrapped again...quite a process. Once it made it onto the truck, the entire box portion of the truck was then lifted onto a boat which traveled to England.
